For several years I traveled approximately 70 miles round trip to an art class. Many times along the way I used this time to pray. I talked with God about my kids, my friends and other family members. And, I often asked him to make me a great artist. Then one day I realized that He had already given me all the tools I needed to be a great artist. I have eyes to see the beauty around me; my hands (though sometimes shaky) are coordinated enough to transfer those images to canvas, my brain still works which guides my shaky hands. God has given me the tools and it is up to me to develop my abilities and become a great painter. I believe anyone who has the desire and determination to pursue the opportunities available can become a great painter. Now my prayers in not “God, please make me a great painter.” It is “Thank you, God, for the great gifts You have given me. Help me use them to Your Glory.”
